I know from personal experience how trauma can stick around, causing us pain. After my own first-hand experiences, I was so tense and inflamed that I couldn’t do the things I loved. I was so mentally and emotionally tied in knots that I struggled to form and hold onto relationships.
I have been a massage therapist since 2012, so I went looking for answers by diving into a whole host of alternative care modalities. This eventually led me to study Craniosacral therapy, (CST) Myofascial release (MFR) and other somatic based bodywork. These modalities have taught me the importance of helping the nervous system downshift into the “rest and digest” mode. I learned that when a body is truly able to relax, very little pressure is needed to help it make changes in pain and tension patterns.
I benefited greatly from these therapeutic techniques! I went backpacking for the first time with no back pain. I could spend a day gardening without paying for it for days afterward. I felt more mentally and physically free and at ease than ever in my life! As a dedicated wellness professional for the last ten years, this modality got me excited about my career all over again.
